The American Constitution Society ("ACS") is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. We believe that the Constitution is "of the people, by the people, and for the people" and interpret the document based on its text and against the backdrop of history and lived experience. Through a diverse nationwide network of progressive lawyers, law students, judges, scholars and many others, we work to uphold the Constitution in the 21st Century by ensuring that law is a force for protecting our democracy and the public interest and for improving people's lives.

ACS is the nation's leading progressive legal organization, with approximately 200 student and lawyer chapters in almost every state and law school. Our chapters hold over 1,400 public programs across the country each year, generating "intellectual capital" for ready use by progressive allies and shaping debates on key legal and public policy issues.

ACS also works to cultivate the next generation of progressive leaders. We use our extensive national network to assist our members with career development, mentorship, and job assistance. The Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers (AAWL) honors, promotes, and supports women in the legal profession. AAWL is a service-based organization that encourages engagement with the community and maintaining high standards of personal and professional conduct. The student chapter fosters collegiality among women and provides its members with mentors from the AAWL parent chapter. AAWL also serves as a social outlet for women in law school.

The purpose of the Student Wellness Society is to encourage well-balanced living through healthy coping skills among the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law students.

SWS shall fulfill its purpose through programming that:

1. Allows students to recuperate from the stressful environment of law school,

2. Educates students about the causes and remedies for impairments affecting members of the legal profession,

3. Reduces the stigma attached to seeking treatment for mental health impairments and substance abuse, and

4. Promotes the services offered by the Arkansas Judges and Lawyers Assistance (JLAP) Program.

The Bowen Christian Legal Society is here to provide a witness for Jesus Christ, an outreach to the Law School Community, and support to students in walking with Christ in the legal profession.

The mission of the Chapter is to maintain a vibrant Christian law student fellowship on the School's campus which enables its members, individually and as a group, to love the Lord with their whole beings -- hearts, souls, and minds--and to love their neighbors as themselves. (Matthew 22:37-40).




In striving to accomplish this mission, the Chapter shall be guided by the ten purposes set forth in Art. I of the national CLS bylaws (see appendix 1, Student Chapter Manual) and by the LSM Threefold Ministry Model, which entails three interrelated activities to be carried out by the Chapter:

Cultivating spiritual growth through communal prayer, fellowship, and worship; learning to share one's faith; and devotional study of the Bible and classic Christian works.

Showing the love of Christ to the campus community and the community at large by proclaiming the gospel in word and in deed, such as through a life of integrity and charitable good works; as Martin Luther put it, "to be as Christ to our neighbor."

Addressing the question, "What does it mean to be a Christian in law?" that is, learning to submit every aspect of one's calling in the legal profession to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Delta Theta Phi (ΔΘΦ) is a professional legal fraternal organization committed to providing a spirit of cooperation by offering an opportunity for lawyers and law students to promote their personal, professional, and intellectual growth through networking, leadership training, scholarship, guidance, and a collective responsibility to the fraternity and the future of the legal profession.

Delta Theta Phi is a member of the Professional Fraternity Association. Delta Theta Phi is the only one of the two major law fraternities to charter chapters (senates) in the United States at non-American Bar Association-approved law schools.

Delta Theta Phi can trace its roots to Delta Phi Delta on September 15, 1900 at the then-named Cleveland Law School, now Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in Ohio. Delta Theta Phi has hundreds of thousands of members across the country and in several other nations.

The National Lawyers Guild is an association dedicated to the need for basic change in the structure of our political and economic system. We seek to unite the lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers of America in an organization that shall function as an effective political and social force in the service of the people, to the end that human rights shall be regarded as more sacred than property interests. Our aim is to bring together all those who regard adjustments to new conditions as more important than the veneration of precedent; who recognize the importance of safeguarding and extending the rights of workers, women, farmers, and minority groups upon whom the welfare of the entire nation depends; who seek actively to eliminate racism; who work to maintain and protect our civil rights and liberties in the face of persistent attacks upon them; and who look upon the law as an instrument for the protection of the people, rather than for their repression.

The purpose of the Bowen NLG is to be a space for action and solidarity among movement law students, professors, and legal workers. We seek to make participation in the Bowen NLG an empowering experience, especially for students who feel alienated by the culture of law school and the legal profession. We recognize the power and privilege afforded by a legal education, and we use our training to work to dismantle oppressive systems and support those communities most impacted by criminal punishment.

The William H. Bowen Student Veteran Organization serves the University of Arkansas Little Rock, by serving Bowen students, the veteran community, and Central Arkansas. The organization accomplishes its mission by: remaining available as a support system for all student veterans, holding networking opportunities, volunteering, connecting veterans to legal professionals in the community, and any other activities the members deem appropriate, such as philanthropy events and fundraisers.

For Bowen Veterans (SVO membership not required although encouraged): students registered as veterans in the university system may receive a red, white, and blue cord during the hooding ceremony at the law school. Law schools and the legal profession are currently strongly dominated by a form of orthodox liberal ideology which advocates a centralized and uniform society. While some members of the academic community have dissented from these views, by and large they are taught simultaneously with (and indeed as if they were) the law.

The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a group of conservatives and libertarians interested in the current state of the legal order. It is founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.

The Society seeks both to promote an awareness of these principles through lively debate and discussion.

Much of America lies in the margins of wide open spaces, in an expansive tapestry of
nature that lies between our urban centers. In those expanses of nature, we as the Finch
Society propose to provide our friends in rural and small town settings with the right to
humble legal counsel. We will forge small practices in areas forgotten by generations of
new lawyers, and we will revitalize dying or dead legal communities in pursuing the
distinction of being a small town lawyer. We will brave the idiosyncrasies of running
small firms and representing all the characters and denizens of small town America. We
will not flinch at the presumed lack of prestige, knowing that much of America lies in the
pastoral lands bordered by the backwoods where, yet still, law and justice also govern
and must still be shepherded by the most important of all professions in this land of laws,
the attorney. We accept the challenge to uphold the sworn duty to expand modest legal
communities through recruitment, mentorship, and patronage. As law students, we will
work to inform other law students of the opportunities in small town practice. We will
guide our brother and sister attorneys to accept the call to cure the access to justice crisis
that plagues our state and the country at large until thriving legal counsel is within arm's
reach of all who are touched by the law.

1: The name of the organization shall be "The UALR William H. Bowen Young Republicans" (hereinafter referred to as "the Club").

2: The purposes of the Club shall be as follows:

A. To encourage young law students to join the Republican Party and to provide an opportunity to engage in political expression and exchange with fellow Republicans;
B. To promote the activities and candidates of the Republican Party and to emulate its ideals and principles;
C. To stimulate interest, education, and participation in political affairs for the betterment of our community, our government, and our society;
D. To equip young adults to be effective political workers so they can individually, and collectively, assist in electing Republicans to office;
E. To foster a sense of community among the Club's members and between members and the community in which they live and work through service and social activities, both political and non-political in nature.


3: No Republican candidate for public office shall be endorsed by the President of the Club, the Executive Board, or the Club itself prior to the party primary or convention at which Republican nominees are chosen, except where there is no Republican opposition. The Club shall not seek to prevent an individual member from endorsing or assisting, at any time, a Republican candidate for public office when done outside one's capacity as a representative or officer of the Club.
